SERVICE PROJECTS

THE BROADWAY GARDEN PROJECT.  This project supported a low income community of individuals with special needs by providing two 4x8 micro gardens.  The Center for the Promotion of Peace was responsible for helping to plant the garden and provide follow-up instructions on sustaining the gardens.

THE SCHOOL MEDITATION PROJECT.  This project provided meditation training to students at a “lock-down” educational facility. 

THE JUAREZ GARDEN PROJECT.  This project provided micro gardens as well as soil, seeds, and plants for the gardens to a community in Juarez, Mexico.  This community is living on a former dump site. This ongoing project involved the assistance of Albuquerque middle school students.

THE ZENDO PROJECT.  This project included the building of the meditation space in Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as providing ongoing financial support for meditation practice at this site.

THE HERMITAGE BEE HIVE HONEY PROJECT.  This project assisted in the purchase and the construction of beehives at the Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, CA.  The wax and honey from the beehives are now being sold at the Hermitage store.

THE MEMORY CARE YOGA PROJECT.   This project was directed toward assisted living facilities that specialized in memory care.. Residents from these facilities were offered age appropriatge yoga instruction.  The goal of this activity provided the residents at assisted living memory care facilities with gentle and restorative yoga asana postures  as well as the mental and emotional training that yoga naturally imparts.
